WE ARE NOT AS STRONG AS WE THINK WE ARE.

Rich Mullins is one of my favourite songwriters. This is one of my favoutrite songs written by him. We often think that we are invincible but then something happens in our life to bring us back to the place of acknowledging our frailty and the fact that we are not really in control of life or circumstances.
Rich lived a simple life of loving God and other people. In 1995 he moved to a reservation near Window Rock, Arizona U.S. to teach Navajo children. He was tragically killed in a car accident in 1997. He is probably most well knonw for his song "Awesome God " and "Step by Step".

.
WE ARE NOT AS STRONG AS WE THINK WE ARE.

Well, it took the hand of God Almighty To part the waters of the sea But it only took one little lie To separate you and me Oh, we are not as strong as we think we are
And they say that one day Joshua Made the sun stand still in the sky But I can't even keep these thoughts Of you from passing by Oh, we are not as strong as we think we are

CHORUS We are frail We are fearfully and wonderfully made Forged in the fires of human passion Choking on the fumes of selfish rage And with these our hells and our heavens So few inches apart We must be awfully small And not as strong as we think we are

And the Master said their faith was Gonna make them mountains move But me, I tremble like a hill on a fault line Just at the thought of how I lost you Oh, we are not as strong as we think we are.

CHORUS

And if you make me laugh well I know I could make you like me Cause when I laugh I can be a lot of fun But we can't do that I know that it is frightening What I don't know is why we can't hold on We can't hold on.

CHORUS

When you love you walk on the water Just don't stumble on the waves We all want to go there somethin' awful But to stand there it takes some grace 'Cause oh, we are not as strong As we think we are.

Sometimes you just read something and you know God is speaking to you - and this is exactly what I felt reading your posting. Awesome and so true. Thankfully God is so in control!!!
I had a situation happen this morning which emphasised my frailty but through it I found myself snuggling into the arms of Jesus again. Thanks Gail.

Gail, I saw your comment on Agel's blog about the brain test. Below the test is a link. It says "What Gender Is Your Brain" Click on that and it will open to that quiz and you can answer it and ask for an HTML code click on "Submit", then copy the HTML code under your result. When you "create a new post" there is a "Compose" and "Edit HTML" mode. Click on the "Edit HTML" button (Top right of your compose block)Paste the HTML code you copied there and it will show up on your blog post when you go back to "Compose" mode. Good Luck!!!

    Hey Spookie,

This rings a bell with me. I think the key sentence that popped out of that Rich Mullins song was this - "What I don't know is why we can't hold on We can't hold on."
My biggest problem, I can't hold on and my whole Christian life has been holding on then letting go. So it spoke to me in more ways than you could imagine.
We are definitely not as strong as we think!!!
Thanks for the post, it was good.

i have to remind myself regularly that i am not actually in control and my plans will fall through (and frustrate me immensely) if i don't "clear" things with HIM first! it's a lesson i have to learn over and pover again!
